The current good manufacturing practice regulations at 21 CFR Parts 210 and 211 never mention translation, but they make it unavoidable. Section 211.100 requires written procedures for production and process control; 211.122 covers materials examination and labeling; 211.188 requires batch production records that document each significant step. FDA's long-standing position is that employees must be able to understand and follow the procedures that govern their work.
