1. Language Industry Market Size
Market estimates vary because research firms do not define the language industry in exactly the same way. The figures below are both useful, but they should be cited with the methodology and source attached.

A figure to treat with caution: claims that there are a specific number of translation agencies worldwide are not supported by an authoritative global count. Nimdzi instead describes a highly fragmented market made up of hundreds of thousands of freelancers and solo operators, a large mid-market segment with revenue between $100K and $10M, and fewer than 200 genuinely large providers. A widely repeated claim with no traceable primary source. Numerous safety and translation articles state that OSHA estimates language barriers contribute to 25% of workplace accidents. We could not locate an OSHA publication, dataset, or dated statement supporting that percentage; the figure appears to circulate through secondary vendor and trade-press references.
For evidence-based discussion of language and workplace safety, the BLS fatality data above provides a stronger and directly citable foundation.

Why are the market size estimates so different ($30.85B vs $72.6B)?
Because the two reports measure different things. Slator focuses on outsourced language services and AI-enabled language solutions, while Nimdzi uses a broader industry definition that also includes technology revenue and in-house language departments. Both figures can be valid as long as the definition and source are stated clearly.
