01Our Commitment

Techniwords is committed to making techniwords.us accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability or technology. Accessibility is not a separate feature of this site; it is part of how the pages are built, reviewed, and updated. We take the same view of digital access that we take of technical documentation: if the reader cannot use it, it does not matter how good the content is.

02Standard We Aim For

This website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.1 AA is the reference standard cited by the Department of Justice in its guidance on web accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act, and it is the benchmark we test against.

Conformance is a continuous effort rather than a finished state. Pages are added and revised regularly, and each addition is checked against the same criteria.

03Measures in Place

Across the site, the following measures support accessible use:

• Semantic HTML structure: one H1 per page, hierarchical headings, lists marked up as lists, and data presented in real tables rather than images of tables.
• Text alternatives on informative images, and decorative images marked so screen readers can skip them.
• Color contrast between text and background designed to meet the WCAG 2.1 AA ratios, including on buttons and links.
• Keyboard operability: navigation menus, expandable FAQ sections, and forms can be reached and operated without a mouse.
• Text that scales: font sizes are defined in relative terms and the layout reflows on zoom up to 200% without loss of content.
• Descriptive link text rather than "click here", and a logical focus order on every page.
• Forms with visible labels, and error messages that identify the field concerned in text.
• No content that flashes, autoplays with sound, or imposes a time limit on reading.

04Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, some parts of the site may not yet be fully accessible:

• Some older PDF resources may not be fully tagged for screen readers. If you need the content of any document on this site in an accessible format, we will provide it on request.
• Third-party content we embed or link to, such as review platforms, is outside our control and may not meet the same standard.

Where a limitation is reported to us, we correct it if it is in our power or provide the information through an alternative channel if it is not.

05Compatibility

The site is built to work with current versions of major browsers and with common assistive technologies, including screen readers, screen magnification, and speech recognition software. It does not require a specific browser, plugin, or device to be used fully. Our services themselves are delivered entirely by email and telephone, so no part of working with Techniwords depends on completing a step that exists only on the website.
